Three ways to Cook with Kate at Camont

#1 Classic Gascony

6 Days of Creative Hands-On Cooking

Kate opens her Kitchens at Camont for cooking intensive weeks of hands-on classes, market excursions, gourmet shopping, special ‘School Lunches’ at Camont, and a celebratory lunch out at our favorite 1-star Michelin restaurant. This 5-day cooking retreat is a foodie’s dream exploration of the Cooking of Southwest France with cook, author of Cassoulet: A French Obsession, and expert teacher Kate Hill at her home and school at Camont. Guests stay in nearby accommodation that we can help arrange- from village hotel to chateau to country home.

In Gascony we love all things duck- from foie gras to confit de canard and paté. Local farm and seasonal market produce form the foundation of learning, practicing, and experiencing as Kate shares her Gascon ‘mother sauces’, classic cooking techniques, and a few French pastry basics and regional specialties. Learn about living in the Gascon Slow Lane as Kate introduces you to her favorite artisans and artists for some fun shopping, exploring, and touring. Make new friends, learn new tricks, and experience Gascony to create your own French memories.

“When I turn my head, I see hundreds of meals served at a crowded wooden table, on rustic pottery, on fine Limoge, on wooden cutting boards, in soup tureens, and spilling over large platters; carafes and bottles empty and are refilled; and the clatter of silver serving pieces, wine glasses clinking, and laughter makes a convivial soundtrack. My souvenirs of the Kitchen at Camont.”- Kate Hill
“You cannot come away untouched by Camont, in fact it’s most likely you will find a passion for life that’s all too rare these days and learn to embrace it once more. Don’t even hesitate if you are thinking about learning with Kate. Just book it and count down the days. You’ll have no regrets.”

"It’s difficult to describe it as only a cooking course. You do learn to cook a sumptuous range of Gascony’s finest dishes, explore incredible markets and eat well with fellow enthusiasts on the course, but it’s more than that. It’s an introduction to the passion for food that exists in this very special part of France, with someone who embraces and represents this perfect lifestyle beautifully.”
