Yoga and the Mediterranean Diet Course

‘So how much of each’, asked Kamal over lunch at the school in Lecce. ‘I think yoga in the day time and cooking and learning about wine at night’. We scratched it out onto the school’s chalkboard, the course taking shape long before lunch was even over.

Kamal TK: Yoga and the Mediterranean Diet Cooking Course ItalyI’d been following Kamal Fanibanda for years, and we had even met a few times in the street, just enough to know OF each other, but never much more than that. 

I had heard that she was a British-educated, helicopter engineer that worked all over the world on massive projects for kings and sultans and presidents. And that one day she asked herself if yoga was the only part of her day that she really loved, why wasn’t she only doing that? (a epiphany close to my own. the one that caused me to put in my notice and move down from Bologna, 16 years ago).

She studied in India and then eventually starting teaching there, but started to feel that there was still a piece missing from her life, the part that would add even more balance: 8 years ago she moved to Italy.

This sense of balance in life- both in metaphor and actuality- is our objective with this new yoga and cooking course. And rather than adapting the all-too-predictable trappings of no-meat-no-caffiene-no-alcohol, we’re keeping our menù traditional, La Dieta Mediterraneana as observed here in the Salento (and one of only two places where it is protected by UNESCO). 

We’re opening our new Yoga, Food and Wine Course to everyone, regardless of level, with free additional classes held for those that want more Yoga.

And as always, we’ll dedicate ourselves to hands-on learning about the food and wine of Southern Puglia, the evenings’ meals prepared 100% by you.
